Category D
Overview
Minimum age
24 years. But there are various exceptions!
Tests
The training concludes with a theory test and a practical test, which lasts 85 minutes.
Requirements
You'll need a medical certificate, proof of first aid course completion, a passport photo, your ID card, and your Category B driving license.
Validity
There is no expiration date.
Training
The theoretical training consists of 6 double lessons of basic material and 18 double lessons of additional practical material if you have a Category B license. If your Category B license has been held for more than 2 years, you'll need 33 practice hours and 25 special driving sessions. The number of theory and practice hours may vary if you hold a Category C/C1/D1 license or if your Category B license is less than 2 years old.
Special Features
With a D license, you automatically receive the D1 license as well.
You're allowed to drive
designed and built to transport more than eight passengers in addition to the driver.

Category DE
Overview

You'll need a medical certificate, proof of first aid course completion, a passport photo, your ID card, and your Category D driving license.
Validity
The license is valid for 5 years and can be renewed for 5-year periods, provided you pass a health check and eye test.
Training
The practical training includes 4 practice hours of 45 minutes each and 5 special driving hours of 45 minutes each.
Special Features
With a DE license, you automatically receive the D1E and BE license as well.
You're allowed to drive
with a gross vehicle weight exceeding 750 kg.
Category D1
Overview
Minimum age
21 years. However, you can get the driving license at 18 if you are trained as a professional driver or have completed such training.

The training concludes with a theory test and a practical test, which lasts 85 minutes.

You'll need a medical certificate, proof of first aid course completion, a passport photo, your ID card, and your Category B driving license.
Validity
The license is valid for 5 years and can be renewed for 5-year periods, provided you pass a health check and eye test.
Training
Theoretical training includes 6 double lessons of basic material and 10 double lessons of additional practical material if you already have a Category B license. If you have held your Category B license for more than 2 years, it includes 16 practice hours and 16 special driving hours. For those with a Category C license or if your Category B license is less than 2 years old, the number of theory and practice hours will differ.
Special Features
You're allowed to drive
Designed to carry more than 8 but no more than 16 passengers, excluding the driver, and not longer than 8 meters.
With a maximum permissible weight of up to 750kg.
Category D1E
