Professional Driver Training

If you want to pursue a job in which you drive by truck or bus, in addition to the appropriate driver's license, you also need special training called a “basic qualification.” You also need to take regular continuing education courses to stay up to date.
Overview
Basic Qualification
Basic QualificationYou’ll acquire the necessary knowledge and take a 7.5-hour exam with the Industrie- und Handelskammer (IHK), which includes both practical and theoretical components. You don’t need a truck or bus license for this exam.
Accelerated Basic Qualification
This involves attending a 140-hour course, including 10 hours of practical training. At the end, you’ll take a 90-minute theory exam, also with the IHK. You don’t need the specific license at the start of this process either.
Funding
Education Voucher
If you meet certain criteria, the Employment Agency or Job Center might cover your course costs. However, this aid is not guaranteed, so it’s best to discuss it with your advisor first.
Activation and Placement Voucher
This funding is available for courses up to three months long. Like with the education voucher, there’s no guarantee of receiving this aid, but it’s worth discussing with your advisor. With this voucher, you won’t incur any costs.
